*POSITION SUMMARY*: The Financial Controller manages all accounting functions and accounting staff.
The right candidate for this role is capable of coaching and mentoring other finance/accounting team members at all levels.
*Essential Duties & Responsibilities*
* Oversee the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including internal / external monthly financial statements and reports.
* Maintain general ledger and assume responsibility for monthly closing activities to include job cost allocations and work in progress.
* Develop staff and monitor employee performance and training.
* Maintain and utilize specialized knowledge of accounting principles and practices related to construction management or professional services.
* Oversee a variety of disbursements, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, employee expense reports, and cash flow projections.
* Oversee payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll, tax payments, quarterly and year end tax reporting.
* Perform the activities of the accounts receivables to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings and cash receipts applications.
* Provide hands on cash management oversight.
* Manage the coordination and completion of annual reviews, financial statements, and tax returns.
* Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.
* Drive process improvements, keep abreast of new finance and accounting trends and developments, as well as identify and implement internal controls.
* Monitor and lead the implementation of new accounting standards as they pertain to Stella May.
* Lead the annual budget process.
* Work collaboratively with director-level personnel across the organization to actively provide timely financial information.
* Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience with Viewpoint REQUIRED.
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
* 5+ years of previous finance management experience in construction.
* CPA required.
* Experience with cost accounting and WIP.
* Certified payroll experience preferred.
* High level of attention to detail and strong time management skills.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, especially Excel modeling.
