Ellington Mechanical is seeking an experienced *HVAC/Mechanical Estimator* to join our team.
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of construction projects and providing detailed proposals to clients.
This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with clients and project teams.
The most successful estimators build and maintain relationships, we are looking to hire a team member who has and can build relationships!
MUST be willing and able to attend jobsite walks, meet with customers, meet with vendors, meet with subcontractors, and commute to and work at any company locations in DC and MD (PG County/Baltimore City).
Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials required
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, general contractors, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes
- Utilize construction management software to create detailed estimates
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing
- Review contracts and negotiate pricing with clients and vendors
- Work with the management team to monitor project costs throughout the construction process and provide cost control recommendations as well as modify estimating accordingly
- Assist in value engineering efforts to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
- Prepare comprehensive proposals that outline project scope, schedule, and cost breakdowns
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred
- Proven experience in HVAC/mechanical estimating, preferably in multi-family, commercial, or institutional projects
- Strong knowledge of HVAC/mechanical methods, materials, and building codes
- Proficient in using construction estimating software
- Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients, project teams, and subcontractors
- Ability to negotiate pricing with vendors and subcontractors
- Familiarity with project management principles is a plus
