Technical Writer
The Technical Writer will support the U.
S.
Coast Guard’s Surface Forces Logistics Center’s Technical Information Management Branch with providing life cycle management support of technical publications.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Technical Writer : $45,000 to $49,000.
Pay commensurate with experience.
Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided.

Technical Writer Responsibilities Include:
Provide life cycle management support of technical publications by developing, promulgating, amending, maintaining, and providing quality assurance for technical publications used to support the SFLC.
Provide accuracy assessment, validation, and discrepancy resolution of technical publication requirements.
Use the Coast Guard approved computer equipment/data systems, Standard Workstation III, remote access to the same, or Contractor computer with compatible software.
Plan, attend, and actively participate in team meetings, progress reviews, decision points, budget planning meetings, etc.
Complete other ad-hoc requests for technical data as required.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Technical Writer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
At least three (3) years of job-related experience.
General knowledge in use of computer data systems.
Experience with U.
S.
Coast Guard Standard Work Station III preferred.
Experience working in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with working in teams and independently.
Working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications.
Must have or be able to gain within six (6) months, a working level understanding of technical requirements, government standards/specifications, and Coast Guard directives which are used for the lifecycle management of technical information.
Experience in writing, editing, and managing technical documentation and operator/maintenance manuals for military systems and equipment.
Must have or be able to gain within six (6) months, a working level understating of CG-LIMS STIP, which is the system of record for all USCG Surface and C5I Technical Data.
Ability to work independently with little oversight by the government under direction of a technical lead in the Technical Information management Branch (TIMB).
Demonstrate good oral/ written communication skills and organizational abilities.
Ability to pass a drug screen and federal background check is mandatory.
Have the ability to pass a NACI background investigation and obtain a government issued Common Access Card (CAC) to access USCG IT systems and facilities.
Excellent analytical skills and working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs are required.
