Job Description: Perform a variety of scheduling and expediting duties related to material requirements planning.
Primarily concerned with raw material or finished/fabricated parts required in accordance with equipment repair and upgrade schedules.
Key Responsibilities/Complexities: Collaborate with field service, customer service and engineering team to expediate parts for existing equipment at customer sites.
Plans material availability, works closely with vendors – ensuring availability of parts as per the ERP.
Develops and maintains the optimum inventory and replenishment plan for parts, at re-order point, to maintain the availability of all the material for Field Service and for the Project activities.
Works with purchasing and vendors to obtain best quotes and deliveries from suppliers and to establish rate contract for supply of material for longer term.
Researches and finds sources of supply and helps to performs new vendor setup process if required.
Initiate purchase and shop orders to obtain material in accordance with schedule requirements; evaluate and determine alternate methods of meeting requirements with optimum cost and availability.
Collaborate with other departments to determine disposition of materials and expedite flow of materials as needed; work with engineering in substitution of materials as required.
Partner with suppliers to coordinate, expedite or change delivery schedules.
Participate in cross-functional and Lean continuous improvement projects.
Review overdue service orders, determine cause of delay and initiate corrective action.
