Job Summary
Manufacturing/Process Engineers are the bridge between the design team and the production floor.
As a Manufacturing/Process Engineer, you will take on developing new and improving upon existing composite structures that are manufactured in the composite bonding area.
Manufacturing/Process engineers learn to take manufacturing ownership of the structures they are responsible for and the necessary skills needed to communicate to business leaders as well the certified operators who manufacture the product.
Responsibilities:
Ensure adherence to existing engineering specifications, processes and procedures that support the manufacturing of carbon fiber reinforced composite structures:
Process Specifications
Material Specifications
Tooling Design, manufacturing and Geometry Buy-Off via modeling software
Production/Manufacturing Planning
Support the development of detailed cost models and Cost-Out concepts
Support the introduction of new products into the manufacturing environment.
This includes creating and/or reviewing the following aspects of NPI designs:
Manufacturability of design concepts
Cost estimates and ROI of new concepts and designs to be automated
Develop tooling concepts and production methodology for automation cells
Support of business reviews and provide technical insight into manufacturing.
Skills:
Critical Thinking:
Troubleshoot engineering issues that are affecting part quality, cost and/or function
Develop engineering metrics around productivity and part flow
Communication:
Employ operator manufacturing procedures, training manuals and planning
Effectively liaison with other functional groups
Create engineering documentation in support of manufacturing activities
Requirements:
Must have at least a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a relevant engineering discipline
Some experience in manufacturing and engineering technology is preferred but not a requirement
