Job Description: Position Overview: As a Controls Engineering Co-op, you will assist our engineering team in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining control systems for [specific applications or projects].
You will collaborate closely with experienced controls engineers, electrical engineers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of control systems into our products/processes.
This co-op position provides a unique learning experience and the chance to work on real-world projects that impact our company's success.
Duration: This Controls Engineering Co-Op position is a 6-month opportunity.
We have two terms available, January 2024-June 2024 or June 2024 – December 2024.
Location(s): Baltimore, MD Key Responsibilities: Assist in the design, development, and testing of control systems for paper converting machinery.
Collaborate with senior controls engineers to create and modify control logic, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and PLC programming.
Participate in the documentation of control system designs, specifications, and user manuals.
Support troubleshooting and debugging efforts to identify and resolve control system issues in a timely manner.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of control systems with mechanical, electrical, and software components.
Assist in commissioning and startup activities, ensuring proper functionality and performance of control systems.
Participate in design reviews and contribute innovative ideas to improve the overall performance and efficiency of control systems.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in controls engineering.
Skills & Qualifications: Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field from a four-year college or university Basic understanding of PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols (e.
g.
, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
Familiarity with programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagram.
Proficiency in software tools commonly used in controls engineering (e.
g.
, PLC programming software, HMI development tools).
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly.
