Job Description
Grace is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join our K-1 Plant Team at our Curtis Bay, MD facility.
The Operations Supervisor directly supervises employees in the chemical manufacturing setting and reports to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
Assure regulatory compliance, including environmental and process safety, and a safe workplace for all employees and address hazards, deviations, and injuries in a timely manner
Analyzes production to estimate worker hours and create production schedules that meet both internal and external needs
Responsible for start-up, shutdown and normal process operation to include manual operation of the process using field controls
Directs response to emergency situations to include emergency shutdown procedures
Coaches and counsels operations personnel in the assignment of duties
Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met
Inspects and measures product to verify conformance to specifications.
Utilizes quality control system, SPC and response charts to implement corrective actions in a timely manner
Directs workers in adjusting equipment and processes to correct products which fail to meet quality standards
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
Complete all regulatory testing and conduct safety meetings for operations personnel as required
Enter SAP notifications as required for maintenance
Inform operations personnel of planned maintenance by action as a liaison between maintenance and operations through effective communication
Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
Analyzes and resolves production issues to include enforcing labor relation's policies and resolving grievances
Physical Requirements and Environment
Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
Required Qualifications
BS degree in Business or STEM curriculum plus (5) years experience
Or (10+) years’ experience in manufacturing field with high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Must be able to work 12-hour shift work to include both days, nights and weekends
Demonstrated experience with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work
Previous experience with appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and conflict resolution
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership ability to direct and motivate employees
Demonstrated ability to act in a safe manner and teach employees on safety standards
Proficient in MS Office
