Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Lead Aerospace Engineer.
This position will be located at our Beltsville, MD facility.
Relocation benefits will be provided within the United States only.
This role will be the Lead Engineering focal point in support of our extensive pneumatic product line and will work with a cross-functional team to ensure development of high pressure / high temperature pneumatic ducting.
Key tasks include leading a team in the logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints while leading formal/informal program reviews for cost, schedule, and technical performance/compliance with customer requirements and monitoring overall adherence to master plans and schedules.
As Eaton is a global company, this role will also provide product engineering oversight and technical support for similar hardware produced at other Eaton factories.
Candidates must have strong organization skills and effectively multi-task to accomplish a variety of assignments in support of new product introduction, product improvements, and troubleshooting of issues.
The role requires sound engineering judgment to rapidly address business critical operations.
This role is expected to be on-site at our factory located in Beltsville, MD and support customers worldwide, as needed.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $101774.

What you’ll do: • Complete conceptual/clean sheet designs for less complex technical domains.
• Complete or oversee detailed design work for projects.
• Design for risks, design trade-off, and component interactions.
• Perform root cause analysis as per Mechanical Failure Analysis (Fatigue / Fracture / Corrosion / Wear) and improve the design to prevent the failures.
• Decompose and validate system level requirements to the component level.
• Influence customer requirements.
• Own requirements change management including impact due to acceptance of a disputed requirement(s) and streamline customer negotiations.
Is able to re-baseline the compliance matrix.
• Have an advanced understanding of aerospace regulatory standards, regulations, and certifications.
• Complete Qualification planning for a given system.
• Run analysis tools within their technical domain.
• Negotiate boundary conditions and loading with customer.
Review & approve analysis results.
• Analyze collected test data utilizing fully automated techniques.
• Customer interface for most interactions at engineer level.
• Lead engineering process improvement initiatives at local, cross functional level.
• Work with Manufacturing and Quality engineering to provide technical support for production issues within the factory as well as at our suppliers.
• As necessary, participate on continuous improvement teams as Product Engineering representative.
Work in team environment to meet plant driven metrics for quality, safety, delivery, performance, and inventory.
Qualifications: Required (Basic) Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of six (6) years experience in Engineering.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience leading cross-functional teams in development of new product.
• Based on government requirements for the program this role will be supporting, applicants must be a US Citizen for consideration (no dual citizenship).
Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Experience with high temperature exotic alloys (Titanium, Inconel, etc.
).
• Familiar with aircraft product life cycle and regulatory aspects of aircraft design.
• Previous design, maintenance or repair experience with aircraft systems.
• Knowledge of related aircraft pneumatic products, manufacturing techniques and materials.
• Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems for documentation control and workflow management • Familiarity with continuous improvement tools such as value stream mapping, Kaizen, etc.
• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) background.
Position Success Criteria: • Demonstrated ability in leading cross-functional team in product development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD Software package (CATIA V5 preferred).
• Understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Understanding of design evaluation techniques such as reliability analysis, statistical tolerance stack up, Failure Mode and Effect analysis (FMEA), etc.
• Ability to read and understand Drawings, Specifications, and Requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical details to non-technical individuals.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite tools.
• Ability to plan and manage multiple priorities, as well as switch focus efficiently.
• Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to senior-level executive team.
