Job Summary The Composites Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for implementing process technologies required to enhance the transition of products from design to manufacturing.
They will also support the design of new product development, and ensure the end-product has a high level of manufacturability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Monitors day-to-day production activities and recommends product and process improvements to enhance the efficiency of operations Develops manufacturing routings and work instructions, and applies labor standards required to support the product build cycle Establishes process capabilities and recommends improvements Defines and specifies the requirement for assembly tooling, fixtures and equipment to support manufacturing operations Participates in Material Review Board (MRB) and dispositions discrepant material.
Participates in design reviews for product and process compatibility Provides labor and manufacturing engineering costs required for proposal activities Prepares floor and equipment layouts to promote an efficient flow of product through the various assembly operations Provides technical assistance in the transitioning of designs to the manufacturing phase Monitors designs for compliance to design rules, standards and procedures in order to provide consistency in designs and manufacturing process Performs other duties and responsibilities as required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical discipline or its equivalent Experience with CAD Minimum of 5+ years working directly with composites Preferred Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical discipline or its equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related manufacturing field Knowledge of composite materials processing and fabrication techniques Knowledge of tool design and fabrication techniques Familiar with defense and aerospace specifications and requirements Solidworks and/or CATIA experience Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Position involves sitting, standing and/or walking Position requires ability to frequently exert up to 10 pounds of force to move objects and occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; ear protection occasionally required Work usually performed in air-conditioned office and factory environment To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
