JOB SUMMARY Linux Hardware Systems Administrator will support the operations team and provide systems administration for NiFi systems, system testing and maintenance support.
The Administrator will perform system configuration and monitoring, dataflow developments, troubleshooting, and taking corrective actions necessary to maintain the operational readiness of DDS operations.
Configure and maintain production and pre-production servers and systems, and when authorized, research and initiate the purchase of IT equipment, facilitate equipment transfers and identify Power, Space and Cooling (PSC) requirements.
Provide user support for NiFi to include phone and email support, training and outreach, provide hands-on system administration support as part of a team performing system maintenance and operations support of primarily Linux servers, to include services such as VMWare, VDI, DNS/DHCP, File, virus protection, application installation, and other like services.
Monitor and initial troubleshooting of Linux based systems.
Collaborate with team to perform daily tasks to include performing the basic day-to-day 24/7 system administration tasks, implementing NiFi software releases, perform system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, resolve software-related problems associated with Linux, provide general troubleshooting on the clients systems, maintain operational data and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity.
Perform file and repository restores as required, ensure all server documentation including rack elevation spreadsheets are maintained, coordinate hardware maintenance and repairs with customer when needed, and assist in the overall modernization of the enterprise.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems.
Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems.
Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems.
Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
Five (5) years of SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS The qualified applicant must be a US Citizen and possess an ACTIVE TS//SCI with poly clearance.
Sponsorship is not available and expired clearances will not be considered.
Zero to Five (5) years' experience as a SA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
DESIRED COMPETENCIES UNIX/Linux system administration experience (Linux, Solaris), understanding of fundamental networking and distributed computing environment concepts, performance tuning and capacity planning of servers (hardware and software levels), ability to write simple Perl/Shell scripts, and knowledge of Oracle (including installation and setup) is required.
Programming skills in Perl or Bourne Shell.
Knowledge of how C/C++, DBMS and Perl work together.
Practiced with scripting and System Administration automation using SALT.
Experience with implementing hardware architecture.
Linux know-how with performance tuning (tweaking kernel level settings for TCP session optimization).
NiFi functionality Understand analytical needs and requirements.
Familiar with the installation and configuration in a FOSS/COTS/GOTS environment.
Participate in analyzing new hardware/software needs and participate in Client requirements review and meetings pertaining to customer issues.
