Scope of Work: The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, planning, installation, integration, and maintenance of critical backbone core-area tactical and strategic communications networks, including segments of the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) and the Global Information Grid (GIG).
This role involves translating user requirements into technically sound solutions, ensuring adherence to standards, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with the Army's tactical communications systems.
Responsibilities: Designing and implementing backbone core-area tactical and strategic communications networks, including sections of DISN and GIG.
Gathering requirements from users, Operational Need Statements, and Capability Production Documents (CPD) for the Army's tactical communications systems.
Converting requirements into standards-based, cost-efficient technical solutions.
Developing network architecture for various units, allied nations, government agencies, and commercial service interfaces.
Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of current and future Force tactical and strategic military communications networks, covering architecture, protocols, security, network management, and underlying physics.
Engaging in the engineering design, development, integration, installation, operation, and maintenance of the tactical network.
Providing support for integrating Data/Voice/Video/Telephony in the Tactical Network.
Contributing to engineering and technical documentation, assisting in the development of technical requirements, specifications, plans, and reports.
Offering expertise in software/hardware engineering, conducting independent assessments, systems engineering, fielding locations' technical support, test and evaluation, interoperability support, and quality engineering.
Providing technical support in PM TN equipment labs, developing equipment and network configurations and products.
Supporting technology insertion testing related to emerging PM TN Networks requirements and capabilities.
Demonstrating proficiency in virtualization and storage technologies from VMware, EMC, NetApp, Microsoft, Dell, HP, and other relevant platforms.
Utilizing Cisco experience, including Cisco IOS and NXOS, Cisco ISE, Cisco UCS Networking and Configuration, Cisco ASA, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP), MULTICAST, LAN/VLAN design and implementation, VOIP, Cisco Call Manager, Call Manager Express, and Redcom Sigma Core.
Conducting network protocol analysis using tools like Sniffer, Wireshark, or similar applications.
Exhibiting familiarity with Army Software Baselines and Architectures.
Working with Microsoft and Active Directory for network-related tasks.
Offering on-site technical expertise at field locations as needed.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering, testing, or a related field.
Secret Security Clearance.
Minimum of 10 years' tactical network engineering experience.
Extensive knowledge and experience in tactical and strategic military communications networks.
Proficiency in various networking technologies, protocols, and platforms (Cisco, VMware, EMC, etc.
).
Strong understanding of network architecture, security, protocols, and management.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Flexibility to provide on-site technical support at field locations when necessary.
