Overview: The Network Engineer candidate shall manage the US Army In-Vehicle Prototype Integration Facility (IPIF) in day-to-day operations, scheduling, customer event/project set up, coordination, and upkeep.
May require <10% travel to support program events.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities: Assess customer requirements to determine equipment, hardware, and software needs and advise the manager/leadership team on equipment upgrades, replacement, and repairs needed to meet lab technical requirements and/or revised security and IA requirements.
Work on site with each customer and stakeholders to establish the conditions necessary for a successful event/project/test.
Includes aspects such as: physical space layout, network architecture, power, audio visual tools, etc.
Coordinate with other facilities for distributed test bed assets use, SME support for test events, and to establish fiber connectivity.
Assist customer in set up, configuration, and modifications of the test bed.
Develop and maintain a scheduling method for customers to use the facility, reduce scheduling conflicts, and increase availability.
Develop and maintain a facility operational rhythm that seeks to maximize the time and effectiveness of events/projects/tests that use the facility.
Create and maintain architectural artifacts and configuration management of the lab test bed infrastructure.
Assist government personnel in the scheduling and task management for regular maintenance, shipping and receiving, new construction or installation of laboratory equipment and internal systems.
Develop processes to streamline routine requests and actions.
Document these processes into standard operating procedures/ identify areas for improvement, automation, and modernization within the facility.
Take ownership of supporting functions (supplies, logistics, physical security, safety, upkeep) that keeps the I-PIF operational.
Minimum Requirements: Active Secret security clearance required.
5 years experience as a network engineer or systems administrator.
Experience with Cisco, Juniper, PacStar, Klause.
Experience with routing protocols BGP, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, MULTICAST.
Current Comp TIA Security+ certification.
Comfortable operating in an environment of uncertainty.
Exhibits flexibility and can operate off of intent.
Uses strong interpersonal skills such as diplomacy, patience, and politeness to provide top level customer service to a wide variety of customers and stakeholders.
Ability to think through details and tactics without losing sight of overall strategic goals.
Ability to change direction and re-prioritize in response to changing work situations in a high paced environment.
Ability to prioritize conflicting needs; handle tasks and requests quickly.
Follow through on task/project to successful completion often with deadline pressures.
Desired Qualifications: Experience in military R&D, experimentation, or acquisition is a plus.
PMP certification is a plus.
