RSSI Roofing Company is a commercial government roofing contractor based out of Baltimore.
We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a Roofing Estimator position.
As a commercial roofing estimator, you will provide estimating services and oversee activities for large-scale roofing projects.
You will estimate labor, materials, time requirements, and other factors that contribute to the overall cost of the project.
You will be responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, to ensure that we know everything to accurately forecast the budget for a project.
You will coordinate with the client, project managers, engineers, and architects.
The Estimator will work out of our Essex office, but will be required to travel for bids, site walks, and other contract needs.
*Duties & Responsibilities*
* Review project opportunities and determine Pros and Cons for the suitability of pursuit.
* Prepare bids from architectural drawings, specifications, and other pertinent bid documents.
Ability to interpret IBC, NRCA, SMACNA, UFC, UFGS, Contract Specs, Contract Drawings, and FAR documents when estimating.
* Utilize various Government websites to navigate and identify new bid opportunities on a daily basis.
* Understand universal bid requirements of the Government including qualification parameters needed to bid on certain Government projects.
* Oversee pre-qualification bid submissions and keep company in good standing (renewing pre-quals as required).
* Attend all pertinent pre-bid meetings and review proposals and specifications to determine scope of work and estimate.
Prepare quote.
* Complete take-offs from bid documents to identify labor, material, and time requirements.
* Communicate with Contractors/Owners in-person, and through phone and email.
* Obtain material quotes from manufacturers/suppliers.
* Conduct roof surveys and meet with clients to assess requirements, take measurements, photos, and collect data to be used in plan.
* Ability to generate a bid proposal from scratch to include detailed scope items while referencing contract docs with inclusions, exclusions, adds, and deducts as needed.
* Review and utilize historical data from previous P.
O.
s, subcontracts, productivity and other reports as needed to assess unit and labor calculations.
* Follow-up and review estimates in a timely manner.
_Must meet deadlines for bid submissions.

* Maintain and update calendar to stay informed of bid opportunities and other upcoming bid tasks such as RFI’s.
* Maintain good relationships with prime contractors/owners, RSSI staff, sub-contractors, and manufacturers.
* Hand off accepted projects to, and support, project management.
* Order and Coordinate receipt of project specific materials.
* Maintain accurate and up to date project files on company share drive.
* Professional development to stay current with industry standards, processes, and techniques.
*Qualifications*
* 4-year college degree is preferred.
* 3-5 years’ experience in commercial construction (preferably estimating).
* Knowledge of MS Office, particularly in Excel.
* Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications and other bid documents.
Proficiency with viewing and manipulating these electronically.
* Ability to define problems and present solutions.
Emphasis on attention to detail and the ability to recognize discrepancies.
* Strong communication skills.
* Knowledge of construction methods and project scheduling.
* Must be extremely organized and have the ability to multi-task.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
* Solicit, maintain, create, and foster relationships with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, etc.
