We are seeking to hire an Engineering Manager to lead our Mechanical team in the Airborne portfolio.
Our division focuses on rapid deployment of radar payloads for space and airborne applications.

Candidate would have a lead technical role to research, design, develop, and test a variety of airborne payloads.
Candidate coordinates activities involving electronics packaging, thermal design, manufacturing engineering, airborne sensors, and aircraft pods.
Candidate would focus on mechanical/thermal design and manufacturing, with consultation from other engineering disciplines.
Candidate would also manage the established AgilePod® team and design approaches to package airborne radars.
Candidate would also have the responsibility to manage a group of mechanical engineers with responsibility of managing resources, developing and improving engineering processes, organizing training, hiring of new mechanical engineers, and supervising members of the group.
It is expected that this role is approximately 70% technical and 30% managerial.
Manages and directs mechanical engineering group resources and activities for airborne products.
Develops and recommends engineering processes and procedures consistent with company objectives.
Manages group’s assets, hardware and software, and any of the other related programs or systems within the mechanical engineering group.
Coordinates with manufacturing support personnel to conduct prototype runs for products.
Communicates with company personnel on projects, priorities, timetables and budgets as required.
Interacts with customers and/or vendors.
Develops short term and long-term goals for the mechanical engineering group.
Supervises experienced professionals, several of whom exercise significant latitude and independence.
Determines candidates for employment/termination, conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff.
The Engineering Manager will Lead the existing AgilePod® program engineers through the full lifecycle of the product and assure successful project objectives per plan.
They will also oversee a group that performs the following: Duties: Design, Develop, and Test, airborne pods and radar systems.
Design ruggedized electronics assemblies, enclosures, and chassis for airborne systems and military applications utilizing Solidworks.
Optimize thermal performance, structural performance, material compatibility, and reliability utilizing engineering analysis and optimization techniques.
Review electronics packaging designs as they progress through development, qualification, and production considering design for manufacturability, yield issues, and reliability.
Develop engineering qualification plans for requirements verification and risk reduction utilizing a combination of engineering analysis and environmental testing-thermomechanical, shock, vibration, humidity, other fatigue tests, and overstress testing.
Recommend design paths based on analysis results; including items such as material selection and assembly techniques.
Assess systems to identify key failure modes and recommend analysis to validate design decisions.
Develop and conduct testing to validate engineering analysis models.
Develop and execute manufacturing process validation plans· Design and qualify complex tooling to facilitate product assembly.
Design and conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate material selections or advanced electronic packaging manufacturing processes.
Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.
Work with partners, suppliers, and subcontractors, to include writing RFQs and SOWs.
Assist in creating cost estimates for related activities.
Ensure projects are properly staffed with mechanical and aerospace engineers according to their experience levels and specialties.
Here’s What You’ll Need: ABILITY TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A SECURITY CLEARANCE.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering (or similar) with 12+ years of experience or a Master's degree with 10+ years of experience.
4+ years in a supervisory capacity.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment with cross-functional teams.
Effective time management and prioritization skills.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Works well as a part of a team.
Great problem-solving skills.
Great interpersonal skills Must be able to plan and execute multiple technical tasks concurrently.
Composite and Aluminum design and fabrication experience.
Experience with design for manufacturability.
Experience resolving qualification and production failures.
Understanding of principles for performing mechanical analysis including structural, thermal, or vibration.
Hands-on manufacturing experience.
Preferred: Persons with Airborne Structure Experience, Airworthiness experience is a plus.
NASTRAN and Aero-structural analysis is a plus.
Experience with Airborne Pods, Carbon fiber Composite material a plus.
FEA experience with NASTRAN or ANSYS.
Experience with airborne structures.
Experience with package level system analysis.
High reliability electronics packaging design experience.
CAD experience in Solidworks.
Experience creating and executing DOE (design of experiments).
Machine shop experience.
