Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join the Production Engineering team within the Synergy Hardware organization.
This position is located in Linthicum, Maryland Position Overview: This Staff Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for supporting production programs through engineering issue resolution.
The role revolves around working with cross functional teams to guide IPTs and program management on proper paths forward with program hardware.
The position will require occasionally generating presentations for presentation to customers (i.
e.
PMRs, RCCAs, etc.
).
Responsibilities and duties: Facilitate issue resolution of program hardware on the manufacturing floor Determine solutions to vendor issues and coordinate with supply chain management Lead RCCAs for program hardware Implement revision changes to program designs and documents Support Diminishing Manufacturing Supply (DMS) resolution and monitoring Support redesign efforts for affordability and producibility initiatives Assist systems engineers in testing support of program hardware Design tooling and fixturing Mentoring junior engineers** The successful candidate will be a self-starter, well-organized with good problem-solving skills, able to perform effectively despite concurrent work tasks and will possess strong communication, leadership, team coordination and mentoring skills.
The successful candidate will also thrive in the fast-paced advanced design work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Basic Qualifications: BSME or closely related field and 14 years of relevant experience; Masters and 12 years of relevant experience; or, PhD and 9 years of relevant experience Experience with design and development of precision electro-mechanical components and assemblies Proficient with Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD software Proficient with ASME Y14.
5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.
100 engineering drawing practices Experience working on the manufacturing shop floor (first time-built support/review through full scale production issue resolution) Strong oral and written communication, attention to detail, self-motivated, organized, innovative thinking skills Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a cross-functional design team United States Citizenship Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance or higher Product lifecycle support experience, spanning concept development through production Able to work onsite at Northrop Grumman facility in Linthicum, Maryland Preferred Qualifications: Aerospace & Defense electronics industry experience Experience developing manufacturing processes and work instructions Expertise in Teamcenter and associated Mission PLM processes (PR, CR, EC, DTO, AMR, DRR, CMR) Experience with organic PCB / CCA design, including materials, design processes & tools, and manufacturing processes Working knowledge of military and commercial specifications applicable to electro-mechanical hardware Familiar with principles of RF, digital, and power circuitry and components Familiar with principles of AESA technology, Radar and RF Communications Familiar with thermal and structural analysis methodologies and software tools Hands-on experience with assembly and testing of prototype electronics hardware Experience in a technical leadership role on a cross-functional product development team Active DoD Secret or higher security clearance Proficient with SAP Experience supporting/leading RCCA efforts Experience presenting to and interfacing with customers This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Clearance or higher.
Salary Range: $143,100 - $214,700 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
