*Join Goetze's Candy Company Maintenance Team as a Machinist *working dayshift on the plant floor and in the machine shop keeping our food packaging equipment running in a climate-controlled facility.
With the right mindset and skillset, you will not only be performing a responsibility, but will enjoy working with the team to increase overall productivity.
You will need to troubleshoot, adjust, and repair the equipment to meet production demands.
The machine shop has equipment to fabricate and develop parts that will improve a machine’s output.
*Position Summary:* This position is responsible for · Repairing, troubleshooting and adjusting production equipment.
· Completing production machine changeovers.
· General maintenance including setup, operation, production, and quality of the equipment output.
· Performing maintenance and machine work on the production floor and for major breakdowns perform maintenance in the shop.
· Working with the team to complete projects.
· Ensuring minimal downtime of the machines during maintenance.
Added value responsibilities: · Running various lathes and mills to tight tolerances · Make and read drawings · Creating parts based on drawings · Welding and Grinding *Supervisory Responsibilities:* This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
*Principle Duties / Responsibilities:* * Replace worn or broken parts on equipment * Mechanically troubleshoot machines to ensure optimal efficiency of product output.
* Ensures equipment is capable of meeting expected production throughput rates and quality specifications.
* Evaluate performance of the machines to improve productivity * Assist machine operators to keep machines running.
* Maintain records of maintenance on machines as required, legibly, accurately, and completely.
* Diagnoses and repairs gearboxes, bearings, pumps, and other mechanical systems * Make adjustments to the packaging machines for different products, when necessary.
* Keep your work area neat, clean, and free of debris.
* Able to work independently, under the direction of a supervisor, and as a team player to complete projects * Communicate with other employees and management respectfully to prioritize and complete work tasks.
* Ability and willingness to work over-time hours during evenings or weekends when production is down to accomplish necessary maintenance or improvement * May be required to support other mechanical teams/departments which will require cross training within the Maintenance Department * Other tasks or duties as assigned by management.
*Education and Experience:* * Must be at least 18 years of age * 1 year position related certificate from college or technical school preferred * *1 year experience as a maintenance machinist with three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
* * PLC, Alen Bradley a Plus * Welding and Grinding experience a Plus.
* Must have good mechanical aptitude to be able to learn the mechanics of our twist wrap production machines * Must be able to understand mathematical concepts such as standard measurements, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
* Must possess a basic working knowledge of pneumatics, machine shop tools, and measuring equipment * Must have own tools: basic screw drivers, wrenches, sockets (standard or metric).
· Experience in a food manufacturing environment a plus and understanding of proper maintenance within close proximity of food production (Example: The control of foreign objects due to cutting, drilling, and control of tools used.
) · Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions, policies, and procedures in English.
· Must be able to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and SQF regulatory program requirements.
· Maintain a safety-first mentality in order to work in the factory.
· Must be able to adhere to attendance policies.
*Physical Requirements:* * Must be able to perform repetitive motions with hands, arms, and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controls and ensure proper maintenance of machines.
* Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, lift, push, pull, twist, and move regularly throughout an 8-hour shift (up to 50 lbs.
) * Must be able to use ladders while performing maintenance * Must be able to visually distinguish the operating lights and panels on machinery and equipment, and have near acuity (clarity of vision at 20 inches or less) * Must have good hearing including being able to identify abnormal equipment operating sounds.
· The factory can be loud, dusty, and a high paced environment.
The use of food safety equipment (hair nets, beard nets, other) must we worn in production areas.
· Maintain a neat, clean, and presentable appearance including clean uniforms.
· Must be able to work in a smoke-free worksite, including throughout the workday.
