Johns Hopkins Public Safety is seeking an IT Manager, Electronic Safety & Security who will be responsible for the implementation, operation, security, maintenance oversight and administration of electronic safety and security (ESS) systems.
ESS systems include, but not limited to, integrated security hardware and software solutions such as ID Badging, access control, door hardware, video surveillance, security detection, call center, dispatch, alarm monitoring, information management display, mass notification, life safety, and fire detection alarm.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for the efficient operation and management of all Johns Hopkins University & Medicine Public Safety support systems; including all Johns Hopkins entities.
Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Security's communications ensuring all communication equipment meets industry standards, is fully operational and compliant with all required guidelines.
Work closely with all shift personnel to ensure efficient utilization of the systems regarding dispatch, logging and reporting.
Independently lead projects, such as planning and implementing installation of access control devices and/or video surveillance cameras.
Plan, lead, and implement the installation of operating systems, cabling, servers, and client hardware; migration of files, data, and applications from other systems to the device environment; client hardware moves; and creation or acquisition of programs and other user interfaces.
Deliver, move, and install ESS devices and related software such as security panels, video surveillance cameras, access control devices, peripherals, operating systems, environmental system updates, and installations according to industry standards and procedures.
Complete projects and requests by meeting published Service Level Agreements.
Work with other LAN Administrators and areas responsible for strategic computing device products to ensure that releases are kept current and updates to servers and customer devices are coordinated.
Collaborate with JH University Divisions and JHH affiliate hospitals to ensure that ESS systems align with JH safety and security risk mitigation objectives.
Prepares cost estimates and orders for ESS equipment and supplies within departmental budget.
Establish device management procedures and standards such as access methods and time, security validation checks, and documentation by working with team members to ensure conformance with information system and organization objectives.
Develops and recommends departmental policies and procedures.
Analyzes emergency management program information technology needs and recommends products and services.
Ensures the integrity of the computing environment is maintained in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Develops and implements work plans and measures against established standards.
Proactively monitors key performance indicators and makes real-time adjustments to ensure goal accomplishment.
Consistently seeks to improve work processes and efficiencies.
Perform routine checks and reports on status of ESS systems.
Analyze customer needs in the computing device environment to evaluate business problems and recommend solutions.
Develop and document implementation plans.
Evaluate and recommend vendor software packages and hardware by investigating tools available in the industry to support customers and the current environment.
Create software utilities for device management such as batch files for automated installation of software on devices by identifying and acquiring appropriate tools to improve total cost of ownership and customer service.
Provide guidance, training and support documentation to customers.
Provide technical solutions to customer's needs in the use of ESS systems, software products and device operations.
Manage vendor relations to solve application, operating system, or hardware issues.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree.
Five (5) years progressively responsible IT related experience in the installation and maintenance of electronic safety and security systems (ESS).
Two (2) years in either design, project management, system initialization and training for electronic access control, CCTV or alarm monitoring systems.
* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis.
For jobs where equivalency is permitted, Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years supervisory experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
