What You’ll Get to Do Provide input to the design of the organization's network and mission architecture.
Configure and optimize the network to connect various front-end and back-end components.
Perform maintenance and upgrades of networks including routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, hardware, and networks.
Maintain network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies while maintaining system backs ups and recovery capabilities.
Understand the OSI model and its use to help visualize how the network communicates along with troubleshooting network problems.
Apply experience with network monitoring tools.
Conduct proactive monitoring of all network devices, service and services using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and continuity of operations.
Minimize network latency and maximize data throughput through design analysis and network performance monitoring tools.
Optimize end-to-end system performance and dataflow management.
Conduct data captures to obtain network performance information.
Design solutions, integrate, configure, deploy, test, and provide ongoing maintenance for numerous types of network devices, interfaces, and methodologies.
Gather needed data to specify system/component performance and interface requirements.
Implement specific network solutions to support server requirements to include load-balancing, VPN’s, firewall contexts, Traffic Shaping Voice over IP (VoIP), GRE Tunneling, Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) session performance, VPN’s, firewall contexts, IP Security (IPSec), IP Encryption, Media over IP (MoIP), and network address translation (NAT) where appropriate.
More About the Role The Network Engineer will Provide computer network expertise for upgrading and replacing existing Cisco networking equipment (e.
g.
, routers and switches) as part of large redesign and modernization effort.
You will be an integral member of our SCIF Ops team supporting networks in at 2701 Technology Drive SCIF, which supports over 300 residents over multiple networks.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications Cisco knowledge (Brocade experience also a plus) Network Routing Network Switching Experience with Network Migrations Understanding of DoD network standards Previous network experience/exposure to various enclaves Knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN, MPLS and general network theory required History of providing timely and accurate status updates to management Experience partnering and working with 3rd party teams and vendors Experience providing support, troubleshooting, device maintenance drive updates, and site installations Experience creating and maintaining detailed diagrams and technical documentation of enterprise networks Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong work ethic; self-starter and highly proactive System Administration skills on Windows platform a plus Must be a U.

Citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance with FS Poly (required) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical discipline and a minimum of 7 years of experience as a Network Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, size, and complexity.
Four (4) years of additional experience in Network Engineering can be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Security+ related Certification Information Assurance Technical (IAT) level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.
01-M is required.
