If you are 18-70 years old, drink alcohol, and are willing to quit drinking alcohol during the study, you may qualify.
This study looks at changing the activity level of ghrelin, which is commonly called "the hunger hormone," with an investigational medication to determine if it helps to decrease craving for alcohol.
This particular study involves a stay in the Clinical Research Unit on the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus for an average of 14 days.
The maximum possible length of stay is 21 days.
Participation includes taking the investigational medication, taking the placebo capsule, having blood samples drawn, completing questionnaires, participating in virtual reality sessions, and one outpatient follow up visit.
