JOB DESCRIPTION The Information Technology Technician is responsible for installing an maintaining computer hardware, software and networks for residential and commercial clients.
The Information Technology Technician reports to the Operations Manager and provides hardware and maintenance, repair, training, consultation and recommendations about future planning and development of resources.
Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure maximum access to and implementation of technology services and resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating systems and networks Be familiar with all hardware and software Be familiar with all networks operating systems Train clients and staff about potential uses of existing technology Provide orientation to new users of existing technology Train clients and staff about new and potential use Provide individual training and support on request Provide recommendations about accessing information and support Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources Troubleshoot all technology issues Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance Make recommendations about purchase of technology resources Research current and potential resources and services Provide network access to all staff and students Install work stations, servers, peripherals and network equipment Connect and set up hardware Install software Provide network accounts and passwords as required Monitor security of all technology Install and maintain passwords Maintain networks Advise staff of security breaches or changes in security status Identify and prepare hardware for disposal Ensure data wiped on decommissioned equipment Pickup, drop-off, and transport equipment Frequently discuss technology services provided by CTAG.
All other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Hold a current CompTIA A+ (or greater) Certification Information Technology Technician must have proficient knowledge in the following areas; Computer hardware and software systems and programs Computer networks, network administration and network installation Computer troubleshooting Computer viruses and security Email and internet programs Skills- Information Technology Technician must demonstrate the following skills; • Ability to install and administer computer hardware, software and networks • Teamwork attitude • Decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills • Effective verbal, presentation and listening communication skills • Effective written communication skills • Excellent computer operation skills • Stress management skills • Time management skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Strong communication/people skills Teamwork attitude Decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills Effective verbal, written, presentation and listening communication skills Stress management skills Time management skills Personal Attributes- Tier 1 Technical Nerds must demonstrate the following personal attributes: Be honest and trustworthy Present a positive, professional image Be respectful Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity Highly self-motivated and directed, with attention to detail Be flexible Demonstrate sound work ethics Physical Demands- Tier 1 Technical Nerds will have to spend time sitting and using office equipment and computers.
Tier 1 Technical Nerd’s will also have to do some lifting of computer equipment, supplies and materials.
Environmental Conditions- Tier 1 Technical Nerds may have to manage several client requests and projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of clients and completion of projects.
Excellent time management skills and prioritization is needed to ensure successful completion of required tasks.
Sensory and Mental Demands- Sensory demands include use of the computer, which may cause eyestrain and occasional headaches.
The office may be noisy and busy making it difficult to concentrate.
The Tier 1 Technical Nerd deals with a very stressful and demanding environment as many of the clients are frustrated and require immediate services.
DETAILS This role will be in person.
