POSITION SUMMARY
The virtual outpatient therapist is responsible for conducting intake assessments, utilizing ASAM and DSM V criteria to determine appropriate treatment placement within Ashley Treatment Center's continuum of care.
This position is responsible for initial treatment planning, resource linkage, and service coordination with programs and departments within Ashley Treatment Center.
The remote outpatient therapist provides individual, family and group therapy, as well as crisis and case management for patients and their families.
This position will require evening hours.
This position provides virtual services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrated ability to plan and use effective therapeutic interventions and counseling techniques.
Assess mental status of patients; assist patients in formulating treatment plans and goals; perform case management services and needed to assist patients to meet their goals as stated in their treatment plans
Provide activities to achieve goals of treatment plans, including: individual, group, and family therapy; group facilitation; and lectures/presentations
Conduct crisis intervention; intervene and de-escalate crisis situations with customers; assess risk of harm to self or others and arrange needed resources
Refer customers to supportive services such as vocational, medical, social services, housing authority, etc.
Advocate for participants in different forums including in the court system, with family, school system, etc.
Maintain close and cooperative relationships with community agencies and other public agencies in carrying out treatment plans
Provide screening, intake and assessment of customers utilizing required instruments and assessments within appropriate time lines.
Facilitate counseling groups and provide individual and family counseling
Develop written treatment plans/updates and continuing care plans and make appropriate referrals; maintain electronic health records in accordance with standards
Conduct periodic reviews with managed care companies for authorization of treatment
Attend staff meetings/clinical supervision and other required meetings
Complete written discharge summaries and correspondence within established time lines.
Work closely with the admissions department and Ashley Treatment Center program supervisors to ensure a smooth intake and admission process.
Maintain patient confidentiality and security of patient information per agency policy and HIPAA guidelines.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR IOP CLINICAL SUPERVISOR:
Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or other behavioral health discipline from an accredited college or university required;
Minimum LMSW, LGPC or LGADC from the State of Maryland is required
Preferred – Prior experience in substance treatment
Preferred – experience or education in providing telehealth services.
Clear understanding of and demonstrated ability to use ASAM and DSM V criteria
Knowledge of substance use disorder assessment and treatment strategies
Ability to communicate and interact both personally and in writing with patients, staff, and community agencies
Minimal mathematical skills necessary
Experience with EMR and efficiency in completing EMR notes within 24 hours
Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word and Excel
Interpret educational material, assessments, and treatment plans so they are understood by patient community; able to probe and draw out thoughts, feelings, problems, concerns and fears of the patient
