We serve credit unions by supporting their operations and delivering world class service.
We support the credit union members with their loans, deposits and other financial needs to achieve their goals.
Home Equity Underwriter reviews and analyzes home equity loan applications to determine whether borrowers meet financial and creditworthiness criteria.
The Underwriter assesses the risk associated with approving a loan, evaluates the borrower’s income, credit history, employment history, debt-to-income ratio, available equity, and other important factors.
As part of the Home Equity Underwriting team, they strive to provide exceptional service to members and partners.
3 STAR Values: Service Teamwork Attitude Results Department: Home Equity Reports to: Manager, Home Equity TOP JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Review loan applications, credit reports, and supporting documentation to analyze risk and request additional information and/or documentation as necessary.
Review income and loan documents or verify self-employed tax returns.
Monitor and manage pipeline to meet Service Level Agreements.
Review and follow up on incomplete files for initial decision.
Work in collaboration with other departments and team members.
Documenting and effectively communicating reasons for the rendered decision of loan applications to internal teams, members, or credit union partners.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and partner specific policies and guidelines.
Other responsibilities and opportunities: Validate loan data utilizing internal and external resources to include member documentation and vendor reporting.
Identify and resolve any red flags.
Evaluate property values appraisal/AVM on the subject property to determine if acceptable.
Engage with peers and other staff within the department to provide training and support.
Additional job-related projects and duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: 3 years home lending experience required; previous underwriting experience is preferred.
Thorough understanding of credit reporting and financial analysis.
Experience using a LOA/automated underwriting system preferred.
Ability to analyze personal and business tax returns and perform cash flow analysis required.
Working knowledge of home equity loan processing and pertinent legal regulations helpful.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
