SUMMARY
Reporting to the Vice President of Public Safety this position will provide visionary leadership and direct oversight of all medical campus and security functions across numerous locations, including the East Baltimore Campus, Bayview Campus, Howard County General Hospital, Suburban and Sibley Campuses and All Children’s Campus.
This position will implement a proactive and dynamic community policing agenda that incorporates best practices balancing service with enforcement within patient settings.
This position will be responsible for directing and advising on complex technical security issues, security systems integration, operational efficiencies, and the modernization of security technologies.
Provides executive counsel to senior leadership related to technology and business process direction.
Provides internal leadership in the development, delivery, re-engineering, and integration of information systems and information services.
This position is responsible for the operation of all the Security Services for the Johns Hopkins Medicine.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP The position reports directly to the Vice President of Public Safety ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Evaluates physical security assessments and recommendations to the corporate security leadership on existing and emerging security threats and trends.
Leads creation of facility vulnerability analysis and best practices, training programs and communications, to support the unification of security and IT technology, consolidation of resources, and the integration of IT and security technology throughout the organization.
Ensure the protection of Johns Hopkins physical assets and corporate facilities.
Leads corporate physical security key strategies by driving security and business decisions through the consolidation of security resources and best value technological applications.
Ensures applicable security records and reports are properly maintained and directs the preparation of special reports and correspondence relating to security activities and services.
Monitors compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines such as TJC, MOSHA and OSHA.
Responsible for the development of security initiatives to identify program inadequacies, risks, vulnerabilities, and collaborate with key stakeholders to verify critical resource allocations to control operational costs and expenditures.
Manages and coordinates all security services provided on or about the campus of the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.
Provides leadership and structure for the security program through program development, planning, implementation, and communication with appropriate administrative personnel and subordinate.
Develops and monitors goals and objectives for the external security program.
Monitor and coordinate the development and implementation of security training and in-service training to support the goals and objectives of Corporate Security Services and TJC requirements.
Assist in the recruitment/selection of security personnel by conducting interviews and making recommendations to the Director of Contract Services.
Identifies deficiencies; applies training to effectively resolve issues.
Monitors, and coordinates crime prevention strategies for the JHM campus and East Baltimore community.
Ensures departmental compliance with all personnel policies and procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines such as TJC, MOSHA and OSHA.
Manages performance of staff using the components and procedures of the Performance Management System.
Monitors and responds to employee concerns and problems.
Develops and monitors departmental budget.
Represents Corporate Security Services by participating in various internal and external community security/crime reduction initiatives.
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice or related field Requires a minimum of 10 years progressively responsible, full-time managerial and administrative experience in law enforcement or healthcare security, or any combination of education and experience, including 5-7 years of management experience with significant business impact.
4 years conducting or supervising global physical security analysis, as part of federal, state, local or private industry, law enforcement, military or civilian community.
Experience building, leading teams and engaging multi-disciplinary partner groups strongly preferred.
