The Neurosciences Critical Care Unit (NCCU) Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work overnight to enhance coverage of the unit and continuity of care for neurocritically-ill patients.
The NP will work with a neurologist/neurosurgeon fellow and resident to cover 21-24 patients at night.
The NCCU is located in the Zayed Tower and is a 24-bed critical care unit specifically for Neurosurgical and Neurology patients.
You can expect to care for patients undergoing a variety of procedures and surgeries such as: craniotomies, spinal fusions and aneurysm clippings/coilings.
Additionally, you would care for a spectrum of patients with neurological disorders, cerebrovascular events and status epilepticus.
The staff works with medical therapies in addition to devices and integrated technology to enhance assessment skills which include: EVDs, Artic Sun ®, Pupillometry.
Shifts: 12-hour Night Shifts Monday - Friday; NO Weekends! Permanent Night Shift incentive pay

Qualifications:
MSN/DNP from an accredited nursing program required
Active Maryland RN license required
Current certifications as an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland
BLS Health Care Provider CPR certification required: AHA or Red Cross accepted
Requires 3 years of ICU nursing work experience
No NP work experience required; will consider new grad NP if you have 3 years or greater of prior RN work experience in an ICU
New Graduate NP will need a letter from the Maryland BON approving practice as a Nurse Practitioner Graduate
Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) enrollment required
***You will function in a Nurse Practitioner Associate role until credentialed by The Johns Hopkins Hospital medical board and staff privileges are granted.
