Introduction
The Maryland Department of Commerce is seeking qualified applicants for a contractual Fort to 400 Program Specialist (Administrative Officer II) within its Office of Marketing Tourism and the Arts.
GRADE 14 LOCATION OF POSITION The World Trade Center, 401 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21202 Main Purpose of Job This position is under the direction of the Managing Director of the Office of Tourism and Film.
This position will serve as the primary staff to the Fort to 400 Commission and will schedule meetings, conduct outreach with Fort to 400 stakeholders, assist in coordination of data collection, perform data analysis, and prepare associated reports.
The position will support the Fort to 400 Commission and other related Boards as assigned with meeting logistics, scheduling, preparation of minutes, agendas, and reports and other tasks as assigned.
This position will also support the development of the Commission’s project plan which includes coordination with assigned staff of the Department of Commerce.
POSITION DUTIES Specific responsibilities include engaging and organizing outreach methods for input from economic development and community stakeholders, boards and industry leaders as defined; preparing summary and analysis of input; tracking information as required by the Fort to 400 Commission; ensuring data collected and findings of the Fort to 400 Commission are evaluated in the development of the project plan; interacting with Department representatives, members of various councils and commissions regarding policies, trends, data analysis and best practices; working collaboratively among public, private sector, and non-profit sectors to communicate Department goals and functions and that of the Fort to 400 Commission.
This position will assist in the preparation of final reports and participate in the development of recommendations for improvement of the Fort to 400 Commission and its programs and in the planning and implementation of new or revised programs and procedures.
Statewide travel - to include frequent visits to St.
Mary's County, MD - will be required.
The selected candidate will be detail oriented, possess excellent interpersonal skills to work with high-level public, private sector, and other officials and maintain effective working relationships; excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to handle multiple, concurrent and high priority projects; plus, the ability to meet deadlines and possess proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, Google Mail, Salesforce and/or other relevant software.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes: 1.
Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.

Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
3.
Candidates may substitute U.
S.
Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.
Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
BENEFITS Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.
As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled.
The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.
You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period.
This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
