Lead Technician - Custodial is a working lead position which performs, plans and supervises the cleanliness of the all facilities and grounds.
Employees in this position are responsible for the correction of minor repairs and initiating work order request to Facilities Maintenance & Operations.
Essential Functions Plans and leads the general routines and daily operations of schools and District Office facilities in the assigned region area as it pertains to the cleanliness requirements for the building.
Conducts routine cleanliness inspections of facilities in assigned areas and reports conditions and initiates work orders to correct deficiencies.
Initiates work orders in the computerized management maintenance system (CMMS) that monitors the operational maintenance issues and completion rate of work orders.
Checks boiler room for cleanliness and to ensure proper use.
Inspects buildings and grounds and initiates work orders for minor repairs to remedy defective, improper or inefficient conditions.
Supervises the removal of snow from walkways, exit doors, loading docks and dumpster areas by City Schools custodians and contract cleaners.
Provides oversight and guidance for the supervision of work by City Schools custodians and contract cleaners to assist in cleanliness of all school buildings and District Office buildings; ensuring that all duties and tasks assigned in the City Schools Custodial checklist are completed.
Inspects classrooms, offices, hallways, fire extinguishers, cafeterias, restrooms, loading docks, dumpster areas for proper cleanliness.
Communicates with school administration on cleanliness inspections and the status of work orders.
Performs administrative duties requiring effective verbal, written and computer communication skills.
Completes written inspection reports and input into databases as required for each facility after completion of inspections.
Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.

95 Desired Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent.
Three years of practical experience in cleanliness, inspecting buildings, floor maintenance and operations of a facility.
Previous experience industry, especially in educational setting preferred.
Direct experience in inspecting schools and facilities is preferred.
Valid State of Maryland driver's license.
Proven ability to quickly analyze problems and recommend and implement workable solutions.
Proven ability to work effectively with principals, teachers, administrators and the public.
Proven ability to ensure delivery of high levels of customer service to the schools throughout the district.
Proficient skill in the use of personal computers and office applications.
Proficient in the knowledge and use of a computerized management maintenance system.
Demonstrated ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
Ability to safely operate various equipment used to clean and maintain a building.
