Job Summary
The purpose of the Banquet Sous Chef is to prepare food for service according to assignment by the Executive Chef and/or Banquet Chef.
The Banquet Chef
When requested, assists with production of daily specials for restaurant.
Sets-up plating line for functions and assist with plating duties
Experience in high volume production.
Foundation in baking methods, unit conversions, and standardized recipes.
Strong knife skills.
Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
Ability to take direction.
Communicative, open to feedback, and able to develop strong working relationships with other staff members and managers.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated and organized.
Performs other special, ad hoc duties as requested by the Executive Chef
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
5 years' relevant experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
Continuous repetitive motions.
Work in hot, humid and noisy environment.
